Computer Coding for Starter Adults\

Computer coding for starter adults? Does it sound like something a bit scary or too techy? Well don’t be afraid – many of us are in the same boat and that’s why Science Oxford wants to help. Come along to our relaxed adults-only session for an introduction to programming with cool coding gadget, the BBC micro:bit and Python. A BBC micro:bit is a small microcontroller – it has a pixilated ‘screen’ on the front made of 25 LEDs, two buttons you can use to control it and loads of other interesting features, which you can learn to use. With support from the Science Oxford team and some simple coding magic you will be able to bring it to life!

During this session you will learn some new coding techniques while focusing on the micro:bit’s built-in accelerometer – the same device that a smartphone uses to know when it’s being picked up or moved – to create your own music controller!

Bring your own laptop and a pair of headphones (recommended) or use one of ours. Suitable for those with no or very little coding experience.
