OCM Open Line-Up Announced

New music promoter and producer OCM and pioneering theatre Pegasus have announced the line-up for OCM Open 2012. Featuring in this year’s line-up are folk, indie and progressive drone pop bands presenting an impressive, innovative mix of the best new music in the region. The OCM Open is in its 5th successful year and will take place on Saturday 30th June at 8pm at Pegasus.

Echo Boomer// an indie electro-rock pop three piece whose sound continues to shift and evolve with an emotive lead vocalist who sings from his soul. As a trio they have a collective desire to make something new and their influences have no bounds.

Flights of Helios// an offshoot of post jazz improv ensemble Braindead Collective, Flights of Helios are a space prog drone pop band combining atmospheric electronica with post rock guitar drones and a heart stopping lead vocal. They have been compared to Fixers and Sigur Ros.

Jess Hall// has been tipped by Nightshift as an act to see in 2012. She sings wonderfully beguiling melodies with wistful lyrics, engaging captivated audiences with themes of innocence, longing and love.

Red Square// began in 1972, but reformed in 2008. The trio have since introduced their avant-metal free improv mash-up to Café Oto, Vortex and Resonance FM audiences.

The Cooling Pearls// an original seven piece folk collective playing with heartfelt honesty and warmth making songs peppered with drunken poetry and a host of musical trinkets. The band features members of We Aeronauts, The Gullivers & The Mountain Parade.

Past successful Open musicians include Duotone, Natureboy, Loz Colbert and Seabuckthorn.

OCM and Pegasus are holding three showcases this year. As well as our original OCM Open, there are two showcases for younger performers: OCM Open with OCVC and OCM Youth Open.

OCM Open with OCVC showcases the best musicians from Oxford Cherwell Valley College. The confirmed artists are Blank Conspiracy, a new rock collective led by a power-house of a front woman. Cherry Season, a characterful indie-folk group and mesmerising progressive-folk-rockers Remnants of What. OCM Open with OCVC is happening at Pegasus, Friday 29th June at 8pm.

The call out for submissions for the OCM Youth Open has also now closed and the chosen artists will be announced shortly on www.ocmevents.org / www.pegasustheatre.uk. This year the musicians picked for the OCM Youth Open will be tutored by industry professionals in the lead up to the event in everything they need to know to stage their own gig. The Youth Open will take place Saturday 29th June, 1.30pm, Pegasus.

OCM and Pegasus’s partnership on the Open is part of a burgeoning and ongoing relationship to co-promote and produce new music events together. The OCM Open events are part of Pegasus’ 50th Anniversary celebrations.
